Several meetings later I find myself in a rut with the idea of making hundreds of abstract, somewhat meaningless paintings over the course of the semester. It feels stupid to turn back now but I'm afraid I must. Progression must not be linear.

Professor Brain was the first to pop my bubble about the fact that the paintings meaninglessness would be a problem, that there's just something not quite right about it. I would've had to go a little deeper, which then would've defeated my goal making abstract work. Brain also enlightened me to a useful idea about all generative work, that the key to meaning is in the process of the creation.

The job now is to establish a process in Learning to Paint and revise my proposal.
